The type and number of record fields depend primarily on the catalogue’s content. In E-Pics, the catalogues are very heterogeneous. Therefore, it first has to be determined for each catalogue which record fields make sense at all. Of course, the depth of the development also depends on the available resources. Experience has shown that a very large number of record fields and thus a detailed cataloguing can only be handled in large archives. Smaller catalogues better work with a smaller number of record fields. Those should contain all the necessary information, so that the records can be found again, but at the same time should not be too complex.

In addition to the fields record name(mandatory field), the fields title and categories are necessary to describe images minimally. Other fields such as photographer, description, date, copyright and copyright notice already allow good cataloguing with little effort.
