Known error!

If the printer installation error Access denied occurs during printer installation: Log in the User anew and verify, that within password-dialog option Remember my credentials is being enabled, If this doesn't help and the access error still appears, define following entry in Registry using Registry Editor: Within Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Printers\PointAndPrint define value RestrictDriverInstallationToAdministrators to REG_DWORD 0.

Possibly missing parts of the registry-key-path need to be created. This requires Administrator rights and the adjustment within Registry should be made by experienced computer user or ISG employee. After the installation of the printer the added registry value should be removed again for security.

Or start cmd.exe as administrator and copy/paste followed string and press enter:
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Printers\PointAndPrint" /v RestrictDriverInstallationToAdministrators /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f


How to add a Printer to your personal device (Windows):

Windows 10 or higher

In Windows Search field, enter the name of the print server (including domain).
For example: \\pia01.d.ethz.ch (Zentrum) or \\pia02.d.ethz.ch (Hönggerberg)

Print-release with ETH card queues card-ethz and card-hp are on \\pia01.d.ethz.ch for Zentrum and Hönggerberg

Authenticate with your ETH account. The nethz name has to be specified with the prefix d\ for the domain.

For correct functioning, it is necessary to activate the checkbox "Remember my credentials". The credentials username and password will be stored encrypted within Windows Vault on your computer. The encryption bases on your local login password.

Select the appropriate printer, press the right mouse button and connect to the printer.

card-ethz is card-Queue with print-release by ETH-ID for the older Nashuatec printers, but works also for the newer HP-printers. card-hp is for HP printers only. Or select any other printer for direct printing without print-release. 

To view printer locations, in menu View, select Details.

The printer is installed automatically with the driver. If the driver is not yet installed, the installation possibly needs to be confirmed by a local Administrator.
