CIFEX allows users to share large amounts of data over the Internet. Three different clients are available to exchange data over the CIFEX server:
Modern web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, IE, Safari)
Stand alone app (requires Java)
Command line interface (CJI), specifically developed for Unix-based operating systems (requires Java)
By increasing the amount of data in science, it has become essential that large amounts of data can be shared rapidly and reliably. CIFEX is a ways of achieving this. The service is characterised by the following features:
Any large files can be exchanged
The file size limit is 100 GB
Data is stored on ETHZ servers
People outside of ETH can receive data at the invitation of a user.
Sensitive data can be encrypted on the clients side (only when using the stand alone app)
Interrupted uploads can be resumed (only using the stand alone app)
