We are pleased to inform that ETH Zurich now offers a Mentimeter Enterprise subscription for ETH Staff through the IT Shop.
Please note that ETH Zurich provides access to the license only and does not offer support for Mentimeter itself. For any questions regarding functionality, configuration, troubleshooting, or product-related issues, users should contact Mentimeter Support directly.
Please read carefully and follow the steps if you would like to get an ETH Zurich Mentimeter Subscription:
- Do you already have a Mentimeter account?
NO → please proceed to order a Mentimeter License in IT Shop: Getting a Mentimeter Enterprise License
YES → continue to step 2 - Do you want to keep your existing presentations/mentis?
NO → Go to IT Shop and order a ETH Enterprise Subscription (you will get a new account): Getting a Mentimeter Enterprise License
YES → If you would like to keep your presentations and data please ensure that before you continue to order an ETH Mentimeter subscription, your Mentimeter account login Email is updated to your ETH cloud account (UPN), format: <eth-username>@ethz.ch Change Email on Mentimeter Account - Do you currently use a free Mentimeter license?
YES → You can switch anytime to the ETH Mentimeter Enterprise subscription by ordering in IT Shop: Getting a Mentimeter Enterprise License
NO → If you have a paid license, please note that you will not receive a refund if you cancel your subscription purchased directly from Mentimeter before expiration. We therefore advise you to get your ETH license at IT Shop only once your current subscription expires.
If your plan to migrate your Mentimeter license to a ETH Mentimeter Enterprise subscription it is IMPORTANT you read the steps above. Things to consider are:
- Do you have a free or paid license?
- Woud you want to keep your existing data?
Getting a Mentimeter Enterprise License
In order to use Mentimeter with an ETH Zurich-License, you first have to order a subscription from the IT Shop.
Go to https://itshop.ethz.ch/ and log in
Enter your ETH username and password
Select from the Service Catalog "Software and Business Applications" → "Order Software Product"- Select your Organizational Unit
- Search for "Mentimeter"
- For the Enterprise Subscription you have to select the Cost Center and SAP-Approver who will pay for the subscription
- Fill out the form
- Submit Request
- You will receive a confirmation email from IT-Shop. Please wait around 2 hours until all synchronizations are done. At this time you will be able to log in to Mentimeter.com with your ETH cloud account:<eth-username>@ethz.ch Login with ETH subscription
Login with ETH Subscription
Make sure to Log in with SSO (Single Sign On).
- Go to https://www.mentimeter.com
- Go to Log in and choose "Log in with SSO" in the bottom right corner
- Enter your ETH cloud account: <eth-username>@ethz.ch
- You will be redirected to the official ETH Zürich Authentication
- After a successful authentication you will be forwarded to Mentimeter Homepage, where you can start using the application
Change Email on Mentimeter Account
- Go to https://www.mentimeter.com
- Log in with your Mentimeter Credentials
- On the top right corner click on your initial and choose "Account settings"
- Change your Email to your ETH Cloud Account (UPN) format: <eth-username>@ethz.ch and confirm
- Now you can proceed to IT Shop and get an ETH Mentimeter Enterprise subscription Getting a Mentimeter Enterprise License
After confirmation from IT Shop, make sure to log in with SSO Login with ETH subscription
All your saved data should be available
Governance and Feature Restrictions
To ensure a smooth automated licensing process via the IT Shop, certain Mentimeter features are restricted within the ETH Enterprise environment:
- No Dedicated Team Groups/Workspaces: The creation of custom, department-specific "Groups" or shared workspaces for pooling template presentations is currently not supported.
- Why is this restricted? The Mentimeter group feature conflicts with the automated ETH license system. Enabling it carries a high risk that users would accidentally be downgraded to free accounts and lose their paid subscription features.
- How to collaborate instead: All your files are stored safely in your personal "My Presentations" folder. To work with your team, please share presentations individually using the direct "Share" and "Collaborate" options provided within each Mentimeter presentation.
