Microsoft Planner
This page is only available in English.
What's New
The new Planner unifies Tasks, To-Do and Project for the web.
The basic plan includes lists and boards.
The premium plan includes, among others, copilot, timeline and goals.
Existing capabilities in Project for the web such as sprints, people view, goals and advanced scheduling with dependencies will be available in the new Planner. Additional new EWM capabilities coming to the new Planner include baselines, portfolios and lead-lag capability.
Licensing
The premium Planner is based on the Project plan subscription. Currently, ETH members can purchase Microsoft Planner and Project Professional M365 Plan 3 in IT Shop.

Important if you Downgrade to Basic plan!
Important downgrade behavior
With Downgrading your Plan to Basic it returns to the state before the upgrade. Downgrading restores the plan to the state it was in before the upgrade. Any changes made while using Premium (including new tasks, edits, and comments) will not carry over automatically. Only the user who initiates the downgrade will see both versions in their “My Plans” view. Other team members will lose access to the Premium version unless it’s re-shared manually.
- There is currently no built-in method to convert Premium plans to Basic without losing updates made during Premium usage.
- Tasks, edits and comments created during Premium use do not transfer.
- Only the user who triggers the downgrade sees both plans in My Plans.
- Other users lose access to the Premium version and require re-sharing.
If you need to preserve recent changes, consider exporting the Premium plan to Excel and using Power Automate to recreate tasks in a new Basic plan.
Downgrade steps
- Open the Premium plan.
- Open the details pane.
- Select Switch back to basic.
- Confirm Downgrade plan for everyone. Processing takes a few minutes.
