Power Platform Licensing Guide

Through the IT Shop, eligible ETH members with a Microsoft 365 subscription can purchase the following Power Platform licenses:

  • Power Apps Premium User Subscription
  • Power Automate Premium User Subscription


The Power Platform Licensing Guide provides details on usage rights for features in Power Apps and Power Automate with and without a premium subscription for either service

With a Power Apps Premium User Subscription, you can run an unlimited number of websites. However, you must register an application in Microsoft Entra ID for each website. Please follow the instructions to Request New App Registration.

Dataverse Storage

To obtain storage space in Dataverse, please request an environment from us. We will then assign storage space to your environment. 

Please note that Dataverse storage is subject to a fee. Due to capacity constraints, we must pass this cost on to the projects. A small amount of Dataverse storage is provided by the tenant (purchased via additional licenses). Nevertheless, we estimate that around 1.5–2 GB of storage per Dataverse environment will incur a fee.

The current cost is CHF330.- per GB per year. Actual Dataverse storage usage is billed via a corresponding subscription.

Copilot and AI Builder Credits

Microsoft has unified the licensing for Artificial Intelligence in the Power Platform. The former "AI Builder Credits" have been replaced by a new currency called Copilot Credits. These credits are required for all generative AI features, Copilot actions, and AI Builder models.

According to Microsoft's current licensing, there are no free AI Builder or Copilot credits included by default. To use Copilot or AI capabilities in an environment, these capacities must be explicitly provisioned.

Instruction
  1. Order an Azure Subscription via IT Shop, or use an existing one.

  2. Submit a ticket to our team to request a new environment. We will set up the environment and link your Azure Subscription to it via a billing plan.
  3. (Optional) Apply an Azure Reservation (Pre-Purchase Plan)
    If you have a predictable high volume and want to save costs via tiered discounts, you can purchase a Copilot Credit Pre-Purchase Plan directly within your Azure Subscription. This plan purchases a pool of Copilot Credit Commit Units (CCCUs) upfront for a one-year term , where 1 CCCU point converts to 100 Copilot Credits. See the instructions here:
