A SharePoint site is created when a team is created in MS Teams.

Deleting a SharePoint Site

When a SharePoint site is deleted by the site owner, the site is moved to the site collection recycle bin. The site can be restored from the site collection recycle bin for 93 days.

When a file is deleted from a SharePoint site, it is moved to the so-called 1st stage recycle bin (= site recycle bin).
When the 1st stage recycle bin is emptied, the files are “moved” to the 2nd stage recycle bin (= site collection recycle bin).
The file is permanently deleted 93 days after it was initially deleted. (Regardless of how long the file was in the 1st stage recycle bin).
