You can use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to a server or workstation. For a Remote Desktop connection the connecting computer needs to be in the ETH network, either onsite or via VPN

Remote Desktop Software

You can connect remotely to your ETH computer via the following Software:

  • Windows: Use the built-in app Remote Desktop Application
  • maOS: Install the Windows App from the ETH Self Service or from the Appstore on a private Mac
    Add the remote computer with + in the upper right corner, Add PC

How to connect

  1. Start the Remote Desktop Application and connect to your computer with the hostname



  2. Now you can log in with your ETHZ-Login: Username: d\username, Password: Email password

  1. If you are connecting to a computer for the first time, perhaps you will be informed about a certificate error and if you still want to connect. Here you can just click “Yes”
