How to get Adobe Software

Acrobat Reader DC and Acrobat DC Pro are pre-installed on all RDS servers and updated monthly.

Other Adobe applications (such as Illustrator InDesign & Photoshop) are installed on 2 nodes so they can be used as remote applications.

The Adobe Creative Cloud App is also available on the Scientific Application Servers and the Department Servers, along with Acrobat Pro, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop 2025 as 64-bit applications.

All of the aforementioned Adobe applications All mentioned Adobe apps can be found in the start Start menu and will require a you to log on when started for the first time you start them.

Only a few applications such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat are installed locally on each RDS node.

All other application applications are provided on - demand by subscribing to them from the via the Appstore, the application self-service kiosk:.

  • Go to the Appstore (https://app.ethz.ch) and log in with your nETHZ account. This can be from done any computer prior to going to RDS (doesn't have to be done on "RDS"). 
    You will need a VPN connection to ETH if you are outside the ETH network.
  • Search for the program programme you need, position move your mouse cursor over the sign and check tick the 'Remote Desktop checkbox ' box in the appearing dialog dialogue box that appears to subscribe to the app.

If you experience problems with an application, we will first ask you if you have attempted a „repair“to repair it.

If you need to To repair one of the new App-​V V 5 applications, please open the Microsoft Application Virtualization Virtualisation Client from the start Start menu.

To repair an application, switch to the 'Virtual Apps' tab „virtual apps“ and select „repair“'Repair'.
