  • Click Submit on the homepage of the Research Collection.
  • If you are not yet logged-in, you will be asked to log in with your ETH user account.

Submit

  • Choose one of the three options to submit a new publication/research data.
  • There are three ways to start a new publication/research data submission: import from an external source (Option 1), enter metadata manually (Option 2), or by uploading files (Option 3).

Select publication type (example based on Option 2).

  • First, choose whether you wish to submit a "Publication" or "Research Data." Then, search for and select the desired publication type (e.g., Journal Article).

Description (example for the publication type "Journal Article")

  • Under Description, please complete all fields marked with an asterisk (*). For example, please select ETH authors using the lookup button. Authors without a profile can be added by entering their surname in the left-hand field and their first name in the right-hand field under 'Author/Producer'.
  • You can help us verify the publication and avoid follow-up questions by filling in as many optional fields as possible.

Open Policy Finder guidelines

  • If your work is part of a journal or series, please select it from the "Journal or Series Title" field using the search button. The relevant copyright guidelines for the journal will be displayed in the section "Open Policy Finder policies" (formerly SHERPA/RoMEO), which is located further down.

  • If you have not already checked beforehand, you can now find out which version of the article you are allowed to publish and whether an embargo period must be observed.

File Upload & Access: Uploading and Access Rights

  • If you want to publish your document or data, please upload the file(s) at the top of the submission form.

  • The uploaded documents or data are listed further down under "File Upload and Access Rights." Here you will find all the files currently associated with the submission.

  • You can edit the file name and access rights.
  • Additional files can be added via drag and drop.

File Upload & File Access: Deposit Version / Retention Period

For journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters, please indicate which version you are uploading:

  • For first publications, please select "Original work."
  • For self-archiving, please select Submitted, Accepted, Published, or Updated Version.

  • For research data, please indicate how long your data should be retained when uploading files: indefinite, 10 years, or 15 years.

Possible Duplicates

Under "Possible Duplicates," potential duplicate entries are displayed. Please click on the title to check whether the publication you are currently submitting is already available in the Research Collection.

If your entry is a duplicate:

  • Cancel the submission process by clicking "Discard" or "Save as Draft."
  • You can access the existing entry via the search function and, if needed, add a project number, report corrections, or upload full texts.

If no possible duplicate is shown or if it is not an actual duplicate:

  • Click Submit if you do not wish to upload a full text.
