Step 1: Link your ORCID iD to your ETH person profile
- To be able to assign your ORCID iD to publications in the Research Collection, you need to first link your ORCID record to your ETH profile.
- In order to do so, please log in to the MyContact application.
- In your profile ("Personal profil and communication data"), click on "link ORCID iD" and log into orcid.org. Agree to its import. The ORCID link will then be created automatically.
- If you do not have an ORCID iD yet, you can register on orcid.org for free in the same step ("link ORCID iD").
- Your ORCID iD will be displayed in your personal profile as well as in your public profile on ETH Zurich’s People Search.
Your Research Collection user profile is updated over night. Therefore, once you have connected your ORCID iD to your ETH profile, you will need to wait for the next day in order to use the features described in steps 2 and 3 in the Research Collection.
Step 2: Assign your ORCID iD to publications in the Research Collection
- Sign in to the Research Collection with your ETH user account.
- Click on your user profile in the top right corner and then on "Assign author profile"
- The list displayed on this page shows publications that contain your name in the author, editor or another contributor field.
- Select the desired publication using the checkbox and then click on "Claim publications" to confirm that it is your publication, or on "Dismiss" if you no longer want to see the publication in the list of suggestions.

Step 3: Record new publications with ORCID iD
- To enter new publications, proceed as described on the How to publish page.
- Click the lookup button to the right of the name fields and search for the desired person in the lookup window
- When you click on the match in the lookup window, the person's entry in the Research Collection will be displayed, allowing for clear identification.
- Select the desired author profile and close the lookup window.
Import to ORCID record

Linking ORCID iDs of former ETH members and external users
ORCID iDs of former ETH members and external users cannot be linked in the Research Collection.
