Guide with CAT Tool (Wi-Fi Configuration)

The eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT) provides a simple and automated way to set up a secure Wi-Fi connection at universities and colleges. Below is a step-by-step guide to configuring the eduroam network using the CAT tool for ETH Zurich.

Alternative Method: eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT)

  1. Go to: https://cat.eduroam.org/

  2. Click on: "Download your eduroam installer"

  3. Select: "ETH Zurich" from the list

  4. Automatic Detection: The website will recognize your operating system and offer the appropriate installation file.

  5. Download: Click on "Download your eduroam installer" and save the file.

  6. Installation: Run the file and enter your login credentials:

    Students:

  6. Password: Enter your ETH network password.

  7. WLAN Proxy: Leave this set to “None” by default, unless another proxy setting is required.

Troubleshooting

  1. If the connection fails, check that the ETH network password is correct and that the username is entered as <ETH username>@student-net.ethz.ch or <ETH username>@staff-net.ethz.ch

  2. You can also try to “forget” the network and set up the connection again:

    1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.

    2. Press and hold the eduroam network and select Forget network.
