The concept of Microsoft

In Microsoft Exchange, room and team calendars are managed as resource mailboxes. 

These special mailboxes represent physical resources such as meeting rooms, equipment or shared team calendars. 

Instead of creating appointments directly in these calendars, the intention is to add the resource to a meeting by invitation.
The resource then automatically checks availability and accepts or declines the request accordingly.
