Security Patches

Versions older than 20.10.2.3 and 19.06.06

ELN LIMS

A critical vulnerability was found on the ELN-LIMS plugin, please upgrade to 20.10.2.3.

Big Data Link Server

A critical vulnerability in the Java library Log4j was reported (see https://www.govcert.ch/blog/zero-day-exploit-targeting-popular-java-library-log4j/ for more details).

The current and also the previous versions of openBIS are NOT vulnerable to the log4J Zero-Day Exploit.

Big Data Link Server is also fixed since version 20.10.2.3 in order versions please follow the instructions below or upgrade.

Usually, this server is not running. It is only needed if the files of Link Data Sets generated with the obis command line tool should be downloadable (see https://unlimited.ethz.ch/display/openBISDoc2010/Big+Data+Link for more details). If you have such use-case, the line 47 of the start-up script 'servers/big_data_link_server/bin/big_data_link_server' should be replaced by:

DEFAULT_JVM_OPTS=-Dlog4j2.formatMsgNoLookups=true
