Usage questions
Is RDS suitable for running parallelised calculations?
- No, although it is possible, it is not recommended since there are fewer cores than in an HPC cluster. The recommended systems for parallelising are the Euler Clusters.
Can I install my own programs on RDS?
- No, users don't have admin rights on RDS and must install software from app.ethz.ch
- See here for more information: RDS: Getting Software
Can I access my group's NAS drive on RDS?
- Yes, see here for more information: RDS: Accessing Data
I saved data on the C: drive of an RDS server, but it has now disappeared. Can I get it back?
- No, because although you can save data on the C: drive temporarily, you have to expect it to be deleted at any moment (there are no backups). Working on a NAS share is the way to go.
- If it's available on the RDS node, please use the E Scratch Drive.
