How to set up printers

Automatically added printers

  • A card-HP queue for printing to any PIA printer is automatically set up for all users.
  • Some institutes/departments have their printers pre-installed for their users.

Manually adding ETH printers

Normal ETH printers can be added in the same way as on your local Windows system. In rare cases, printers may be unavailable due to network restrictions. If this happens, please contact your local IT support group for assistance.

Connecting to local printers

When connecting from a Windows or Mac computer, your primary local printer will be mapped to all RDS nodes automatically.

The following example scenarios are supported

  • Printing to your home printer (which must be defined as the "default" printer) on your personal Windows or Mac computer while working remotely on a document on a "Scientific Application Server".
