How to setup printers

Automatically added printers

  • card-ethz queue for printing to any PIA printers is automatically set up for all users
  • some institutes/departments have their printers preinstalled for their users

Manually adding ETH printers

Normal ETH printers can be added the same way as you would do on your local windows system. There are some rare cases when printers are not available due to network restrictions, if you experience this, please contact your local IT support group to get help.

Connecting to local printers

When connecting from a Windows or Mac computer, your local, primary printer will automatically be mapped onto all RDS nodes.

Example scenarios which are supported:

  • Printing to your home printer (must be defined as "default") on your private Windows/Mac machine while working on a document remotely on a "Scientific Application Server"

  • Printing to your home printer (must be defined as "default") on your private Windows/Mac machine while working with a Remote App
  • Printing to your primary printer on your office computer while working on a document remotely on a "Scientific Application Server"
  • Printing to your primary printer on your office computer while working in a Remote App
