  • The first generation of RDS (rds.ethz.ch) was operational from 2014 to 2018.
    It was based on three hosts, each with four Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-4657L v2 cores running at 2.40 GHz and 1 TB of RAM.
  • The second generation of RDS (rdsnx.ethz.ch) was live from 2018 to 15 June 2025. Around 4,400 users accessed the servers during this period.
    This generation was based on five hosts, each with four Intel Xeon Gold 6150 CPUs with 18 cores and 2.7 GHz and 1 TB RAM.
  • The third generation of RDS (rds.ethz.ch) has been available since the end of June 2025, with the beta testing phase running from the end of March to the end of June 2025.
